Annotated checklist of the Aphelinidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) of Mexico

Abstract: An annotated checklist of Mexican species of Aphelinidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) is presented. Seventy four species of 9 genera are recorded, including 22 species introduced into Mexico. A host-parasitoid index is given, which includes 45 host species from 7 families of insects for 57 species of Aphelinidae from 9 genera. Valid names, host families; state records within Mexico and references for each species are given. The importance of the study on taxonomy and biodiversity of aphelinids for the development of biological control of agricultural pests and introductions is emphasized.
