Hemiberlesia rapax (Comstock, 1881) - (greedy scale)
This armoured scale insect is widely distributed, mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. It is polyphagous, infesting fruit trees, vines and other trees. Twigs as well as leaves are attacked. Shoots may wilt and heavy infestations can kill young trees. There are 2 or more generations per year. The scale cover is broadly oval, light brown and has a length of about 1-1½ mm. The body is light yellow.
