Braconidae (parasitoids)

This family of wasps includes important internal and external parasitoids of agricultural pests. Lepidoptera larvae, but also Coleoptera and Diptera are attacked.

The family contains more than 40,000 species and more than 1,000 genera. The females usually have a well developed ovipositor. During parasitation, the host is often infected by a polydnavirus which overcomes its defence system.

For details see the respective page in Wikipedia.
