Heterospilus prosopidis (parasitoid) Viereck, 1910

This wasp is a solitary ectoparasitoid on the larvae and pupae of the seed beetle subfamily Bruchinae. For example, it can parasitize Callosobruchus and other species infesting leguminous seeds. The wasp is of interest as a biological control agent of pests of stored legumes (e.g. Schmale et al., 2001). In the field, these wasps are often found in the seed pods of Prosopis.
