Fabales (weeds) - Fabaceae (weeds) - (pea family)
The plant order of Fabales and the pea or legume family of Fabaceae are large and important groups of eudicots and include many weeds. The Fabaceae contain nearly 20,000 species, many of them crops like beans, alfalfa or soybeans, whereas others are common and aggressive weeds.
The Fabaceae include herbs, vines, shrubs and trees. They have compound leaves and flowers with 5 petals, often arranged in a butterfly-like shape. The fruits are of the typical legume pods which open on two side.
