Melilotus (weeds) L. - (sweet clover)
This genus includes around 20 species of herbaceous plants. M. officinalis is grown as forage crop or for soil improvement. However, this and several other species are also invasive outside their native range, and can form dense patches. They colonise open areas and compete with native vegetation (e.g. see Spellman & Wurtz, 2011). Crops like cereals may be also affected.
