Cytisus scoparius (weed) (L.) Link. - (Scotch broom)
This weed is a perennial, leguminous shrub native to most parts of Europe. It has invaded various other regions around the world, including parts of North America, Australia/New Zealand, South Africa, South America, and Asia. It was often introduced as an ornamental or for erosion control, for example in North America in the 1850s.
The shrub usually grows to a height of 1-3 m, sometimes up to 4 m. It can invade grasslands and forests, forming dense thickets, suppressing native flora and disrupting for example reforestation efforts.
