Formicidae (ants)
This group includes pest ants which damage plants, protect other pests like aphids or mealybugs, are storage pests, or have other agricultural significance, e.g. fire ants interferring with agricultural activities. Formicidae are social insects with well defined castes which can form large colonies. The family has more than 10,000 species.
