Oligonychus Berlese, 1886

This genus of spider mites contains around 200 species, including several important and polyphagous plant pests like Oligonychus pratensis or Oligonychus coffeae.

The species are similar to those of the genus Tetranychus. They are characterized, among others, by having only 1 pair of paranal setae (not 2 like in related genera), 10 pairs of opisthonotal setae, 2 pairs of anal setae and claw-like empodia on the tarsi.
