This fungus is one of more than 10 species from the Fusarium oxysporum species complex which cause the Panama disease of banana. It has been recorded from Malaysia and Indonesia. In Malaysia, it was most frequently isolated from bananas infected by that disease. Therefore, publications dealing with the Panama disease in Malaysia are included in the literature references listed above (top left). The species is mainly characterised by its DNA structure.
