Hadronotus pennsylvanicus (parasitoid) (Ashmead, 1893)

This wasp is an egg-parasitiod of several Hemiptera from the family Coreidae like Leptoglossus species . For example, in western Canada it is the most common egg-parasitiod of the western conifer seed bug, Leptoglossus occidentalis, an invasive species in Europe. It is also an important egg-parasitoid of the squash bug, Anasa tristis, accounting for over 98% of all egg-parasitoids collected from that species. In some surveys, the parasitization rate exceeded 50% of the eggs.

H. pennsylvanicus is found in North America, many parts of South America and in Japan. The colour is black with most parts of the legs being yellow.

For taxonomic reviews see Komeda et al. (2020) and Talamas et al. (2021).
