Coreidae - (leaffooted bugs)

This family contains around 2000 medium to large species (1-4 cm) which are found mainly in tropical regions. The rostrum has 4 segments, ocelli are present and scent glands between the middle and hind coxae are always present and well developed. The membrane of the hemelytra has many veins. The tibiae are often leaf-like and the abdomen may have a wide lateral margin. Males can have enlarged femora with strong spines. Most species are plant feeders.
