Fusarium musae Van Hove, Waalwijk, Munaut, Logrieco & Moretti 2011
This fungus was previously considered to be part of the Fusarium verticillioides species complex and is morphologically indistinguishable from that species. However, its host range is restricted to bananas (Musa). One of the characteristics of F. musae is its inability to produce fumonisin. It causes symptoms of banana crown rot, a disease which is typically caused by Colletotrichum musae. F. musae has been also reported as a human pathogen.
