Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. tracheiphilum (E.F. Sm.) W.C. Snyder & H.N. Hansen 1940 - (Fusarium wilt of cowpea)

The forma specialis is soil-borne and widely distributed in tropical and subtropical countries. It causes Fusarium wilt of blackeyed cowpeas and invades the plant through the root system, causing reddish brown vascular discoloration on the roots and stem, wilting, leaf necrosis and stunting. Yield losses can exceed 50%.
