Fusarium lactis Pirotta & Riboni 1879

This fungus was originally described from clotted milk in Italy. It produces the mycotoxins beauvericin, and some of the isolates produce moniliformin and fumonisin B1. It is a plant pathogen and has been associated with various crops. Among others, it causes fruit rot in bell pepper (e.g. Choi et al., 2011). F. lactis belongs to the Fusarium fujikuroi species complex.
