Fomitiporia punctata (P. Karst.) Murrill 1947

The fungus is widely distributed and causes wood rot on citrus and grapevine: It is associated with grapevine decline. It may live on dead wood only. However, in grapevine and some other crops it actively decays the heartwood. The species is closely related to Fomitiporia mediterranea and both species need to be separated by their DNA structure.
