Echinochloa P. Beauv.
This genus contains around 30 species of grasses which are often found on wet soil and in warmer regions. Several are important weeds, affecting especially rice where yield can be reduced by up to 50% if no control is implemented. Some species can even germinate in flooded rice fields. Other crops like maize or soybeans may also be affected.
