Diaporthe foeniculacea Niessl, in von Thümen 1880
This fungus has been described as causing stem necrosis of fennel (Foeniculum). However, it has been also reported to infect various other crops, but some of these records have been based on a confusion with Diaporthe foeniculina. The taxonomy of this species has been studied and discussed by Udayanga et al. (2014), who concluded that it belongs to the genus Guignardia rather than Diaporthe. The name Guignardia has been since replaced by Phyllosticta.
