Carlavirus (genus)

This genus includes various viruses similar to the Carnation latent virus. They are transmissable by sap and by aphids in a non-persistent manner. The viruses often cause mild or no symptoms.

The particles are non-enveloped, flexous and filaments, 500-1000 nm long, sometimes longer and 12-13 nm wide. The genome consists of monopartite, linear, single stranded, positive sense RNA, 8.4-8.7 kb in length, with 6 open reading frames.
