Closteroviridae
This family contains plant viruses which resemble the Beet yellows virus. They cause phloem-limited infections in their host plants and several species are economically important like the Citrus tristeza virus, Tomato chlorosis virus or the grapevine leafroll viruses like Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1.
The viruses are semi-persistently transmitted through aphids, whiteflies or mealybugs. The particles are very long flexous filaments (usually longer than 1000 nm). They have a positive-strand RNA genome (either mono or bipartite) with a total size of 13-19 kb and a 22–25 kDa major coat protein.
