This family of plant viruses combines the genera Sobemovirus and Polemovirus which are genetically related. The members have small isometric particles, around 30-35 nm in diameter. The genome consists of single-stranded, positive-sensed RNA with a length between 4100 and 5700 nucleotides. The viruses cause various diseases in crops, including symptoms like chlorosis, mosaics and mottling.
