Barley yellow dwarf virus GPV (BYDV-GPV)

This virus is part of the complex of barley yellow dwarf viruses (BYDVs). It is common in China, where it can be a problem on wheat. BYDV-GPV is mainly transmitted by the cereal aphids Schizaphis graminum and Rhopalosiphum padi. It belongs to the Solemoviridae, but has not yet been assigned to a genus by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses. Molecular studies indicated that it is related to the cereal yellow dwarf virus-RPV and like that virus appears to belong to the genus Polerovirus (Zhang et al., 2018).
