Phyllocoptruta oleivora (Ashmead, 1879) - (citrus rust mite)

The mite is an important pest of citrus with a world-wide distribution. It feeds on the epidermal cells of developing fruits as well as on the leaves. Heavy infestations results in a reduction of fruit size and marketability. Outbreaks with almost complete yield loss have been reported.
