Oculimacula Crous & W. Gams 2003

The genus is widely distributed in temperate regions. Several species like Oculimacula yallundae and O. acuformis cause important eyespot diseases on cereals, particularly under cool and moist conditions. Infections start at the stem bases, near the soil line, and affect mainly the basal leaf sheaths and internodal tissues of the stems. The fungus sporulates in the fall and survives the winter on diseased stubble standing or lying in the field.

The species were previously placed under the anamorphic genera Pseudocercosporella or Ramulispora and the telemorph genus Tapesia (now regarded as a synonym of Mollisia). The genus is related to Cadophora. It was created as a teleomorph genus and the asexual forms have been described under the genus Helgardia.
