Nigrospora Zimm. 1902
The genus contains several species of fungi that infect crops causing leaf spot and leaf blight diseases on grasses and other plants. Some have been also describedas endophytes, as causing moulds in storage, or as human pathogens. For example Nigrospora oryzae is widely distributed and and infects rice and a variety of other crops.
The species produce white woolly colonies. The conidia are formed singly on swollen conidiophores and are flat, oval and black. They often have a germ slit, a light line along the length of the spore. Sexual forms have been described under the genus Khuskia.
Currently, the following species have been entered into the system:
