Monosporascus cannonballus Pollack & Uecker 1974
The fungus is soil-borne and causes Monosporascus root rot or vine decline on melon and other cucurbits in warm and semi-arid parts of Central and North America as well as the Mediterranean semi-arid regions. Symptoms include root rot, foot rot, necrosis, leaf chlorosis, wilting and finally vine death.
