Monosporascus Pollack & Uecker 1974
This is a small genus of ascomycete fungi which are soil-borne and infect mainly cucurbits. They cause root rot in southern North America, Central America and the Mediterranean region. The most important species is Monosporascus cannonballus. The asci contain 1 (M. cannonballus) or 2-3 (M. eutypoides) spherical ascospores.
