Eotetranychus Oudemans, 1931

This genus of spider mites is widely distributed and contains more than 150 species. Several are polyphagous and important pests like the hornbeam mite, Eotetranychus carpini, which is found in Europe and North America and attacks various crops, including grapevine and raspberry.

The mites are mostly pale green, yellowish or reddish. The genus is characterized by the species having the empodium reduced to 3 pairs of hairs and an opisthosoma with transverse striae in the dorsocentral area. There are 2 pairs of para-anal setae and 2 pairs of duplex setae on tarsus I, located close together.
