Diaporthe caulivora (Athow & Caldwell) J.M. Santos, Vrandecic & A.J.L. Phillips, 2011 - (northern stem canker of soybean)

The fungus is widely distributed in Europe and the Americas, causing stem canker of soybeans. It has been also recorded from other host plants. Originally, the fungus was described as a subspecies of Diaporthe phaseolorum. However, it differs from that species in having slightly wider perithecia with longer necks and shorter asci, as well as by its DNA structure.
