Calonectria metrosideri R.F. Alfenas, O.L. Pereira, P.W Crous and A.C. Alfenas 2013
This fungus has been originally described as a pathogen affecting a forest nursery in southern Brazil, where it caused root rot, stem girdling, wilting and round, purple leaf spots, with a mortality of around 70% on Metrosideros polymorpha and around 30% on Metrosideros tremuloides seedlings (Alfenas et al., 2013). It was subsequently also reported as causing leaf blight on Eucalyptus benthamii leading to crown defoliation (Soares et al., 2019).
