Bromus diandrus (weed) Roth - (great brome)

Bromus diandrus var. rigidus (ripgut brome). This grass is native in the Mediterranean region and invasive in several other regions like North America and Australia. In the invaded areas it is mainly a problem in cereals with conservation tillage and in rangelands. It reduces yield in cereals and is of little nutritious value for livestock.

The plants grow to a height of around 50 cm. They are often found in disturbed habitats. The seeds cling to animals or people and also often spread as a contaminant in cereals.
