Anopheles jamesii Theobald, 1901

This mosquito is found in southern parts of Asia from India to southern China. It can bite humans but has been recorded to commonly feed on cattle and buffaloes. This species has not been found to carry Plasmodium sporozoites (e.g. see Alam et al., 2012).

Taxonomically, A. jamesii is similar to Anopheles karwari, A. maculatus and A. pseudojamesi. It can be recognized by the presence of yellow scales on the abdominal terga vi–viii and by the pattern of dark spots on the forewings (Gunathilaka, 2017).
