Anopheles galvaoi Causey, Deane & Deane, 1943

This mosquito is found in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. It has been recorded to feed on domestic animals like cattle and pigs. However, it is also attracted to humans, biting during the night, and can carry the malaria parasite Plasmodium vivax. There are few reports on its breeding behaviour, but it appears to use puddles and ponds. Taxonomically, it is closely related to Anopheles oswaldoi and A. aquasalis.

Identification keys have been published in the following two articles: 1) for adult males, and 2) for fourth-instar larvae.
