Anopheles daciae Harbach & al., 2004

This mosquito is a member of the Anopheles maculipennis group and morphologically very similar to Anopheles messeae. It was reported as A. messeae before its description in 2004. A. daciae is found in different parts of Europe and neighbouring regions. It is regarded as a possible vector of malaria, as well as of Dirofilaria repens, a nematode parasitic to dogs and other carnivores.
