Anopheles annularis van der Wulp, 1884

This mosquito is found in southern Asia from India and Pakistan to parts of China and including Indonesia in the south. It is an important vector of malaria in India and surrounding countries. A. annularis feeds mainly on humans and domestic animals like catlle. Breeding has been described in ponds and pools with abundant vegetation. Rice fields and swamps are also used. Taxonomically, A. annularis is related to A. nivipes, A. pallidus and A. philippinensis.
