Alphanucleorhabdovirus oryzae

Assigned virus:
rice yellow stunt virus (RYSV)

The rice yellow stunt virus infects rice in eastern Asia, causing chlorosis and stunting. It is transmitted by green rice leafhoppers (Nephotettix) and outbreaks have been described.

The virus 'rice transitory yellowing virus' (RTYV), described from Taiwan is regarded as a synonym of this virus, see Hiraguri et al. (2009).
