Alopecurus aequalis (weed) Sobol. - (short-awned foxtail)

This grass is widely distributed in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. It can be a significant weed in cereals like wheat and rice or in other crops. A number of populations have developed herbicide resistance.

The plant grows to a height of around 30 cm and has short leaves as well as elongated inflorescences. It prefers moist environments and nutrient-rich soils.
