Diaporthe sojae Lehman 1923
The fungus is widely distributed and infects soybean, several other legumes as well as other crops. On soybean, is causes stem blight, seed decay and stem canker. Typical symptoms are a dry rot on the junction between stem and petioles, resulting in wilting and plant death. It is transmitted through the seeds.
The fungus is often referred to as Phomopsis longicolla or Diaporthe longicolla. These names have been synonymized with D. sojae by Gomes et al., 2013.
