Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae (Hingorani & Singh 1959) Dye 1978 (bacterial blight of pomegranate)
This pathovar is found on pomegrate trees in Asia and Africa and can infect the leaves, branches and fruits. Yield losses of more than 50% have been reported from some areas. Symptoms start initially with small water-soaked spots on leaves and fruits which enlarge, become necrotic and result in a blight disease. Crack might appear on the fruits and the bark of branches..
