Uromyces viciae-fabae J. Schröt. 1875 - (faba bean rust)

The fungus has a world-wide distribution in areas where faba beans are grown. In the Mediterranean region, yield losses occur if infections start early in the season. Germinating urediniospores enter the plant through the stomata. Management relies mainly on the use of resistant cultivars, which typically result in a prolonged latency period.
