Triatoma sherlocki Papa, Jurberg, Carcavallo, Cerqueira & Barata, 2002

This species of kissing bug is confined to a relatively small geographic area in north-eastern Brazil (Sate of Bahia) where it can colonize houses. It can carry the Chagas disease agent, Trypanosoma cruzi, and might be a vector of that disease (Almeida et al., 2009). It is related to Triatoma brasiliensis, but can be distinguished by its colour and morphology (Costa et al., 2013).
