Triatoma melanica Neiva & Lent, 1941

This species of kissing bug is found in some parts of Brazil. It does not colonize houses, but might have a role in the cycle of the Chagas disease vector in wild vertebrates. It is closely related to Triatoma brasiliensis and has been regarded as a subspecies of that species. It can be distinguished by its colour and morphology (Costa et al., 2013).
