Tetranychus ogmophallos Ferreira & Flechtmann, 1997 - (peanut red mite)
This spider mite is found in South America and attacks groundnuts or other species of Arachis. It is similar to Tetranychus evansi and might have been mistaken for that species before its description in 1997. Infestations of groundnuts result in silvering of the leaves, followed by leaf necrosis and premature leaf drop. The damage can lead to economic yield losses and young plants might die. Outbreaks have been reported from Brazil.
