Sugarcane white leaf phytoplasma

This phytoplasma is found in southern Asia and is associated with a serious disease on sugarcane characterized by total leaf chlorosis and tiller proliferation. It is transmitted by the leafhopper Matsumuratettix hiroglyphicus. Some authors regards this phytoplasma to be the same as the Sugarcane grassy shoot phytoplasma (= Phytoplasma sacchari).
