Schizophyllum commune Fr. 1821

This fungus is common and widely distributed. It causes wood decay on a variety of woody plants, including trunk diseases (white rot) on important crops like fruit and nut trees or grapevine. These can result in serious losses. For example, a white sapwood rot caused by S. commune has been described on peach saplings in northeast China, affecting more than 80% of the saplings and resulting in 35% mortality (Dai, 2005).
