Pseudonectria buxi (DC.) Seifert, Gräfenhan & Schroers, 2011 - (Volutella blight of boxwood)

This fungus is widely distributed in Europe, the Americas and Asia and causes leaf and stem blight on boxwood (Buxus). Diseased leaves are first chlorotic and later become brownish. Branches show dieback and the infected leaves die and drop. The fruiting bodies (sporodochia) are pinkish and have setae. They develop on the lower leaf surface. The conidia are unicellular and elliptical with a size of about 6-12 x 2-3 µm (see illustralions below).
