Monochamus sutor (Linné, 1758) - (small white-marmorated long-horned beetle)

The beetle is found in the temperate areas of Europe and Asia. It attacks mainly felled trunks, but also stressed live spruce and fir trees. It is regarded as a potential vector of the pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. The adults are about 2 cm long and metallic, brownish black, with a whitish scutellum and a lateral pair of pointed spines on the prothorax.
