Moniliophthora perniciosa (Stahel 1915) Aime & Phillips-Mora 2006 - (witches'-broom of cacao)

This fungus causes an important disease of cacao in South and Central America. The symptoms are characterized by proliferating shoots on the infected branches, resulting in a weakening of the tree and reduced yield.
