Metopolophium Mordvilko, 1914
This genus of aphids contains around 20 species, several of which are pests infesting mainly cereals like Metopolophium dirhodum. They are viviparous and medium sized to large. Most species have a sexual stage and overwinter as eggs. The alternate host is often rose.
The genus is very similar to Acyrthosiphon and Sitobion. It is characterized by various morphological features like those of the antennae, rostrum and vertex. The siphunculi are cylindrical and expanded at the base, the cauda is elongated.
