Melampsora lini (Ehrenb.) Lév. 1847

The fungus is widely distributed and causes a rust disease on linseed (flax). The orange to yellow uredia are formed mainly on the leaves, the brown to black telia on the stems. Urediniospores are spherical to slightly elongated. Aecia are formed on the same host plant. M. lini can cause severe losses in seed yield and reduces the fibre quality of flax plants.
